Gangland: Bullets Over Hollywood
“Bullets over Hollywood” is a TV Documentary presented by the channel Starz and is narrated by Paul Sorvino (Who played Paulie in "Goodfellas"). The Documentary talks about the growth of the Mafia and why gangster movies are so appealing. The film is a compilation of interviews with some of Hollywood's finest actors who appeared in mob films such as Chazz Palminteri (Who played Sonny in “A Bronx Tale”), Michael Madsen (Who played Mr. Blonde in “Reservoir Dogs”), Talia Shire (Who played Connie in” The Godfather”), James Caan (Who played Sonny in “The Godfather) and more. Not only is there interviews with actors, there’s also interviews of film historian and critic Leonard Maltin and former gangster Henry Hill (You might remember him in the movie "Goodfellas"). The documentary also has some good music and even the films that were presented in this documentary were good choices. Another good thing about this Documentary is it also talks about famous gangsters such as Al Capone, Dillinger and John Gotti. The people that I felt should have been interviewed in this documentary are Robert Deniro (Who played James Conway in “Goodfellas”), Al Pacino (Who played Tony Montana in “Scarface”), Joe Pesci (Who played Tommy in “Goodfellas”), Martin Scorsese (Famous film Director) and Quentin Tarantino (Famous film Director). The Pictures that are shown in this documentary are good, but at different times in the film you see the same pictures again, other than that the documentary is still good and for who they got to be in it still works well.
If you are a fan of gangster movies or if you want to learn a little about gangsters and cinema this is for you, however, if you don’t like gangster movies or if you don’t like watching documentaries then skip it.
