Walt, the Man Behind the Myth

My first review is on a TV Documentary film called...

Walt: The Man Behind the Myth on Netflix USA

The film is a two hour Biography of Walt Disney that talk's about his life, while giving you information that you think you might already know like who was the first Disney cartoon character ever made, for example? If you're thinking that probably thinking its Mickey Mouse, you're completely WRONG!! No, Mickey Mouse was not the first Disney cartoon character ever made, and his first cartoon wasn't "Steamboat Willie" either. While giving you some interesting pieces of information that you think you may know, along with exploring Walt's life, the Documentary also shows you what a good visionary Walt is, and how his style of animation has changed the world. The film is narrated by Dick Van Dyke (Who played Bert in "Mary Poppins.) who really captures the emotion and spirit of Walt through his narration, and we are also presented with more than enough interviews of the people who have worked and met Walt Disney like Walt's 9 old men (Animators), The Sherman Brothers (Who helped Walt with the music),The Mouseketeers (From the Mickey Mouse Club) his Family and more. You also get to see some extremely rare footage of home movies of Walt and his Family, as well as getting a chance to see what his house and his studios still look like today. While I do I like this Documentary a lot,the only thing I wish this Documentary could have shown or explored more was the dark and stressful side of Walt Disney that way you can see that everybody has a good and bad side of their lives, but otherwise it's a great and well made Documentary. Oh and one more minor piece of criticism I should add is while I know that the film is rated G, in my opinion, it should have been rated PG since has some mild language every now and then; but that's really just a nitpick. If you're a big fan of Walt Disney, and want to see what his life is like, then this is definitely for you!

RATING 5/5
