TOP 10 MOVIES AND TV PROGRAMS I REVIEWED IN 2010

Note from the Author
This was the last time I did a list like this, after this list, you'll be seeing my reviews I did this year, enjoy

Here are the top 10 films and TV programs I reviewed in 2010!

NUMBER 10

The show is hilarious, clever, and meaningful. This show is just full of jokes, like every scene you watch there’s a joke coming at you when you least expect it, the characters are very funny and likable and the songs are catchy and enjoyable! This show also has special guests like Jay Leno, Robert Smith, Legendary singer and composer Issac Hayes and more! This show doesn't just have hilarious episodes, it also has wonderful Holiday specials, that can make you laugh and feel the spirit of the Holiday! This show also has great morals, especially in the Emmy nominated Episode "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride". The show also has the greatest parodies on celebrities, not to mention the greatest pun on Barbra Streisand, and of course who could forget their famous catch phrases like “I learned Something today”, “I’m not fat, I’m big boned” and of course my favorite “Oh my god they killed Kenny!”  I put it as Number 10 because some of the animation looks bad, but it's still a great start to a funny show and it's not just a funny show, it's also my favorite cartoon show by far!

NUMBER 9

What a treasure this DVD is! It has all kinds of rare stuff such as rare TV Shows; rare TV Specials; rare footage of Disneyland at the Radio City Music Hall; wonderful interviews of people who knew or worked with Walt; and every program you watch there's a surprise. I mean most of these TV Programs are really hard to find; and some of the Episodes of Walt's show are scattered on different Disney DVDs, Don't worry I'll review those in the future.  Now some of you are probably thinking why is this number 9? Well, if you haven't read my review on this DVD, I felt that some of the programs on the DVD didn't really represent Walt enough like the Episode "Backstage Party". Don't get me wrong, they're all treasures, but I just felt that some of the programs didn't belong on this DVD. Aside from that, this DVD is once again a treasure and if you do watch this DVD, watch it with either with your parents or your grand parents because I'm sure some them we're around when Walt's Show was aired and will bring them back memories.

NUMBER 8

Sean Connerey as James Bond is fantastic, every time you see him is gold! The Bond girls are beautiful, pretty and well-acted. The villains are almost everywhere you turn, not to mention having excellent build up to the title villain. The action, Suspense and story is exciting and thrilling at the same time. The score is kickass, and who could forget Bonds famous quote "Bond...James Bond". This film wasn't nominated for any Oscars, but it won the golden globe for Most Promising Newcomer Female Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder. The other Most Promising Newcomer Female that won the award that year was Tippi Herden for "Alfred Hitchcocks The Birds" and  Elke Sommer for "The Prize". You may find this surprising, but Sean Connerey isn't the first Bond, the first bond was played by Barry Nelson (Who you might know him as Mr. Ullman in Stanley Kubricks “The Shining”) on a TV show called "Climax!" in the 3rd Episode "Casino Royal".  However, this is the first Bond Film and OO7 is my favorite fictional Hero of all time!

NUMBER 7

This being the 2nd movie to Sergio Leone's "Dollars Trilogy' is fantastic and twice as good as the first movie of the Trilogy "A Fistful of Dollars". The story is written well and really keeps you at the edge of your seat. The action in the film is great. The score gives the film its western feel and atmosphere. Sergio Leone's cinematography is stunning. The real reason why the films so enjoyable is the "partnership" between Eastwood and Van Cleef, I mean every time when they're together is magic! I also love the performance of Gian Maria Volonte as the villain in this film.  This film in my opinion, beats "A Fistful Of Dollars", however there is one more film left in the trilogy.

NUMBER 6

This sequel actually felt like the 2nd half of the first film, even though there has been a change of some of the cast members from the first film. Aside from that, the film still holds up. The performances of Karlof, Clive, Thesiger, Heggie and Lanchanster are enjoyable, creepy, and heartwarming. The music in the film is powerful and eerie. The special effects are ten times more epic as the first film was. The Cinematography is chilling and interesting, and the story is not just thrilling, it's also sad and emotional. The first 15 minutes may not be as amazing as I said in my review and it may look like a bad sequel, but trust me, if you stay with the film it'll get better. This film has also been nominated for an Oscar for Best Sound.

NUMBER 5

This film has wonderful characters, great music, awesome cars, lots of jokes and classic pranks, and a great feel of 62! Believe it or not, this film was done on a low budget and was filmed for only 27 or 29 days! When the film came out, Universal didn't think it was going to pass as a movie, they think it would pass a TV Movie, but when it hit the theaters, audiences went nuts over this film! This film didn't just launch George Lucas's career, it also launched the careers of the cast members of the film. The film is also full of improved and bloopers to make the film enjoyable. This film is one of the reasons why you see Classic Cars on the street and 50's styled Restaurants. It also inspired the Show "Happy Days" and this hasn't been proven, but lots of people believed the film inspired "Grease". The film was nominated for 5 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Even though the film didn't win any Academy Awards it was nominated for 4 Golden Globes and walked away with 2. One for Most Promising Newcomer (Male) Paul Lee Mat; and the other one for Best Musical/Comedy. American Graffiti also made it to Number 77 on American film Institute’s 100 Movies; Number 43 on American Film Institute’s 100 Laughs list; and Number 62 on American Film Institute’s 100 Movies 10th Anniversary.

NUMBER 4

This Documentary is probably the best documentary ever made about Anne Frank! I mean this documentary really captures the story of Anne Frank and the Holocaust. Kenneth Branagh and Glen Close's Narration throughout the documentary is haunting; the images are sad and disturbing; and the interviews are powerful and moving. Everything about this documentary is so emotional that it's very hard not to feel the sadness! If you're an Anne Frank fan (I personally adore her RIP) or if you're interested in the Holocaust this is defiantly a MUST SEE!

NUMBER 3

A true classic film from the early 60’s, this film has cool cinematography; a nice score; an amazing story; but the real reason why the films a classic is the acting. This is literally one of the best acted films I have ever seen. The performances of Gregory Peck, Mary Badham, Phillip Alford, Brock Peters, Frank Overton, John Mega and the whole cast is just perfect! Even Robert Duvall’s performance is fantastic and he doesn’t even say anything. My personal favorite performance in the film is James Anderson as the Psycho character Bob Ewell, every time I see his presence I get chills of terror, he also kind of reminds me of Robert Mitchum's performance as Max Cady from “Cape Fear”(Ironically made the same the year, and stars Gregory Peck! Peck plays a Lawyer in the film and is being threatened by his old client!). The film is emotional; thrilling; heartwarming; and has excellent dialogue especially in the courtroom scene when Atticus gives his closing speech, and when he talks about not killing a Mockingbird. The film was nominated for 8 Oscars, including Best Picture, but lost to another classic called “Lawrence of Arabia”, it won 3 Oscars for Best Screenplay, Best Art direction and Best Actor (Gregory Peck). The film also was nominated for 5 Golden Globes, including Best Drama, and it won 3 for Best Score, Best Actor(Gregory Peck) and Best Film Promoting International Understanding. It also won an award at the Cannes Film Festival 1963. The film is Number 34 on AFI’s 100 Movie list, but then it was moved to number 25 on AFI’s 10th Anniversary list. AFI also put the film as Number 2 on AFI’s 100 Cheers list; It’s the Number one Best Courtroom Drama; it's Number 17 on AFI’s Film Scores; and Atticus is the number one Hero on AFI’s Top 50 Movie Heroes. This film is also one of Doug Walkers (AKA that guy with the glasses) favorite films, if you haven’t seen his videos look him up cause he’s one of my Inspirations when it comes to reviewing movies. Sadly, this film is being butchered by a lot of Schools and a lot of people cause they’re comparing this classic film to a classic book, in my opinion both the book and the movie are classics, and are special in their own way. Plus, even the author Harper Lee loves this movie and to me that says a lot.

NUMBER 2

A Trip To The Moon

I know the story and the special effects are cheesy in today’s standards, but the reason why I put this film as number two is because of how important this film. As I said in my review, this was a giant step for films because films were just pictures that moved. This film was one of the first films to have a story. Now some of you are probably thinking, hey wasn't Thomas A Edisons film "The Great Train Robbery" was the first film to have a story. Well, it was one of them, but here’s the reason why his film was more noticeable than this film. The director of the film George Melies wanted to send this film to America (Film was made in France) and make lots of money! Unfortunately Thomas A Edison secretly got his film technicians to make copies of the film and showed the film before George Melies could show the film to America. Melies couldn't make any money off the film in America and years later he went broke. As for Thomas A Edison he made a fortune off this film and then made "The Great Train Robbery" a year later. It's really sad how "The Great Train Robbery" has more reconnection then this film. Aside from that this film is still one of the Important of films in the history of Films and Film Making.

NUMBER 1

I can't tell you enough how much I love this film, even my review couldn't explain enough. This film is just epic. The Cinematography is genius! The opening scene of how the camera slowly moves away from the person that's speaking to the Don as we see the Don's back is a great opening. The Mattress Montage scene is a cool as the camera cuts from the safe houses to News Articles, while a person’s playing the piano. I even love the shadowing especially in the scenes with Sollozzo and Captain McCluskey, like in the bar meeting with Luca and Sollozzo; or the scene when we first see McCluskey as he comes out of the shadows. The death scenes in the film are just excellent. They're not only violent, but some of them are references to old gangster films. For example, the Tollbooth scene is a reference to the ending of the movie "Bonnie and Cylde". Even the style of those scenes reminds me of the original classic gangster films. Some of the killings in the film happen off screen and are mentioned in dialogue. This film also has one of the most violent endings I have ever seen (Even though It's not really THE END...). The music to the film is fantastic, it really helps build the suspense, The emotion; the love; and the sadness give the film its special atmosphere. One of the biggest reasons why the films so great is the casting and the story! The actors in the film are the reason why the films so great. I mean, they really bring the characters to life, the performances of Marlon Brando, James Caan, Robert Duvall, John Cazale, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, and an up and coming actor Al Pacino are just powerful performances. I know it's them, but they play their parts so well that I forget its them. Even the supporting actors who don't have too much dialogue or screen time still capture the realism of the characters. The actors, the story, and the characters make us forget their bad guys; the only badguys in the film are the traitors and enemies. When I watch the wedding scene I'm not like "Oh look it’s the actors I've seen in other movies", I'm like "Oh look it’s the Corleones" and that's a rare feeling I get when I see a movie. The Godfather has been nominated for 11 Oscars and Won 3 for Best Screenplay, Best Actor (Marlon Brando), and Best Picture. The film was also nominated for 7 Golden Globes and won 5 for Best Screenplay, Best Score, Best Actor (Marlon Brando), Best Director and Best Motion Picture Drama. The score to the film also won a Grammy and is number 5 on AFI's 100 years of Film Scores. The famous quote "I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse" is number 2 on AFI's 100 years of quotes and that quote is also shown on the climax Montage on "The Great Movie ride" at MGM studios at Walt Disney World also showing a bit of the tollbooth scene. It's also the number one Gangster film on AFIs top ten gangster movies. The was also number 3 on AFI 100 Movie list, and was later moved up to number 2 on the anniversary list of 100 Movies.Years later The Godfather became a successful video game with some of the original cast members reprising their roles such as James Caan, Robert Duvall, Abe Vigoda and even Marlon Brando. Ok,  Vito was usually done by a Marlon Brando impersonator, however, before Brando died he did a short voice recording session and they used his voice in the hospital mission when he's talking to Michael. This was also one of Brando's last performances. Another thing you should know, Godfather is my favorite movie of all time!
