Well, another memorial day has come and gone, and I hope you enjoyed your Memorial day. My next review is the Documentary...
“Anne Frank Remembered” is a documentary on the famous Holocaust victim, Anne Frank. The documentary is narrated by Kenneth Branagh, Anne’s Diary entries are read by Glenn Close and the Documentary explores the depth of Anne Frank and her family’s experience in the Holocaust and why they are still remembered.
I found this documentary extremely emotional and moving! What’s moving about it is we don’t just focus on Anne Frank’s life, we also focus on the history of the Holocaust. The footage of the Holocaust is so intense and sad that it either makes you cry, turn away, or both. What’s also haunting about this documentary is you get an inside look at the actual house where Anne Frank was hiding. As the camera pans the place you see things in the room slowly vanish as you hear some of the diary entries. What I think also contributes to making this a very heart wrenching documentary are the interviews of Holocaust Survivors, people that knew Anne Frank; and one of the people that helped hide Anne Frank and the other people that were hiding with them; Miep Gies, who sadly just recently passed away. The reason why the interviews are so poignant is because not only are they telling us about Anne Frank and the Holocaust, but if you look at them carefully you can almost see them cry even when some of them try to hide their tears you can still feel the power of their emotions come through. What I enjoyed most about the documentary is you get to see some rare pictures of Anne Frank and her family, and believe it or not this documentary also has the only actual footage of Anne Frank.
“Anne Frank Remembered” is indeed one of the best documentaries on Anne Frank and the Holocaust.
My rating for this film is a 5/5
