BACK TO THE FUTURE: THE RIDE
Alright, a lot of you probably know I talked about it when I wrote about Biff Tannen being my 19th favorite Movie Villain, so I won't talk about Biff too much.
THE QUEUE AND PRE-SHOW
You are guests at Doc Brown's "Institute Of Future Technology". Doctor Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) has chosen you, to send you one day into the future in his new 8 passenger Delorean. However, Teenage Biff Tannen (Thomas F.Wilson) has stowed away when a couple of scientists have traveled back to 1955 to conduct an experiment. Biff steals a Delorean (That Doc Brown rebuilt) and disappears in time. Doc sends you in his 8 passenger Delorean to catch Biff by going up to 88 miles per hour and bumping him.
While you're waiting in line, you see promotional videos of "The Institute Of Future Technology" such as new and old Inventions by Doc Brown including his Mind reading Helmet; Doc Brown's Visits in time; videos of Doc Brown telling you about the situation (Including two video's of him in the future with his "Hovercam"); and even catching Biff on the security cameras and breaking them.
The videos really make you feel like this is really happening (Like in my review "The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man") and are also hilarious. The Promotional videos are the real funny ones, my favorite one is"Doc On The March" because you get to see him meet Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison and even The Beatles (MY FAVORITE BAND!). The Special effects are good and look at times realistic, but half of the time you can tell that it's fake, like in the scene when Doc witnesses the first flying machine, you can tell he's looking at a Movie screen. The scene when Doc is revisiting 2015 in his Hover Delorean is mostly stock footage from the 2nd film. Of course, some of Doc Brown's scenes when he's with historical figures look phony looking now, than it was when it was first made, personally I still admire how good it looked for the time, and for how funny those scenes still are.
Christopher Lyold reprising the role of Doc Brown is just as funny and full of energy as Doc was in the Trilogy. Thomas F. Wilson reprising the role as teenage Biff is just as goofy and badass as he we still remember him. Michael J. Fox as Marty is not in this, which is really sad because Marty is the main character of the Movies. I know we're the main characters in this one, but it wouldn't hurt to see Marty help assist Doc. Another disappointment absence in the casting is Mary Steenburgen as Doc Browns wife Clara. I thought it would be nice seeing Doc Brown with Clara in the present. Imagine how interesting that would be. As a matter a fact, why not have Clara be our receptionist instead of some woman named Heather who we never even met before.
THE RIDE
You're trying to catch Biff, but Biff sends you into numerous obstacles. You travel to 2015 at Hill Valley, The Ice age and the age of the Dinosaurs. You're not alone, Doc is communicating with you back in the present.
The set designs are incredible, especially when you visit the future Hill Valley, it's twice as amazing as you saw it in the second film. The special effects are cool too, but I will honestly say the Dinosaur that tries to eat you, looks like an animatronic you can find on The "Jurassic Park Ride". The Ride effects really make you feel like you're in The Delorean crashing into stuff; almost falling off an Icy cliff; and going up to 88 Miles.
The ride is funny, thrilling and literally feels like you're in the film. The ride is sadly closed and has been replaced with "The Simpsons Ride" (Don't worry I'll review it soon). The Ride may be gone, but you can still catch the whole ride, including the Pre-show and Queue Videos on "Back to the Future-25th Anniversary Trilogy" on DVD and Blu-Ray
You may not feel the thrills, but you can still look at it for memories or knowing what it must have been like to be on the ride.
RATING 5/5
