Well, I said that I'd be reviewing simulation and 3-D rides from Disney Parks, did I not? Since it's been awhile since my last few, I think it's time to review another one.
THE PRE-SHOW
Guests are off to see the great and fabulous Muppet Show, only this time it's in Muppet*Vision 3-D. In the queue area, guests are in the Muppets prop room and see three video monitors of the Muppets getting ready for the big show, as well as entertaining the guests and giving safety instructions. The Pre-Show has so many gags and so much stuff going on that it all works, never stops with the comedy and never seizes to not make me laugh. Watching these clips don't just excite you to see the show, but it also gives that same feeling you get when you watch the classic Muppet Show. What I find to be very clever is the three monitors don't show the same thing; each monitor plays on different sides to the stage that the Muppets are standing on, which leads to many opportunities that the Muppets can do with it and believe me they do it very well. The moment that always makes me laugh and is a highlight of the show that I'll never forget is the Mickey Mouse impostor joke. Overall great Pre-Show and now let's take a look at the main show.
THE MAIN SHOW
Kermit The Frog takes the audience on a tour to give them a demonstration of Muppet*Vision 3-D and a bunch of crazy things begins to happen. Fozzie Bear is pulling 3-D pranks on the audience; Bean Bunny is trying to help the show, but keeps messing it up; Miss Piggy has a big musical number, Dr. Honey Dew and Beaker recreated Waldo C. Graphic the world's first computer generated Muppet; and Sam Eagle has a big climax for the end of the picture. We also have Statler and Waldorf heckling the performers on a balcony near the screen. First off, this experience and film not only brings back the classic "Muppet Show" but it also makes you feel like that you're the off screen audience instead of the viewer watching the TV Show at home. On top of it, this show brings so much creativity in special effects wise that it all makes it a must see. We have Statler and Waldorf in the balcony; a penguin orchestra; Bean Bunny hiding in another balcony; the Swedish Chef in the back of the theater minding the projector screen; visually stunning 3-D effects; water being sprayed in your faces; real soap bubbles; Sweetums actually walks towards the audience; we get lots of 3-D gags from Waldo; and the Muppets even go out of their way to break the fourth wall, as well as destroying the movie screen. The Muppets in this movie don't just bring the same fun and charm as they usually do, but this was sadly Jim Henson and Richard Hunt's last Muppet project before they died.
Next to "Terminator 2 3-D: The Battle Across Time" this probably one of the best 3-D experiences that I've ever experienced in my life. It goes all out with it's 3-D and special effects, the Muppets are always fun to watch and the fact that it's been there since 1991 as well as giving Disneyland, its own theater for the Muppets; that to me is saying something and still hold up after all these years is still impressive. Go check it out when you visit Disneyland, California Adventure or Disney World's Hollywood Studios.
RATING 5/5
