LITTLE AUDREY: SANTA'S SURPRISE (SHORT)

Little Audrey, man did I love her character and cartoons while growing up as a kid. They were creative, funny, and smart with a good moral and with a great child character for kids to relate, identify, and learn from. Well since it's Christmas, I'm going to review her debut cartoon since it's a Christmas short called...

SANTA'S SURPRISE

Kids from around the world sneak inside Santa's sleigh to clean his house as a way to thank him for being good to them. Kids from around the world in an old cartoon, well chances are we are going to see some ethnic stereotypes and America's depiction of what other countries were like at the time and boy does this cartoon have a lot that wouldn't get passed today's standards. With that said, stereotypes or not, I've seen worse stereotypes that are more offensive and insulting then this such as "North", "The Censored 11", "The Jasper cartoons" and so on, not to say that these aren’t offensive (Especially the black kid). To me, this falls under "Little Rascals" territory where everybody is a stereotype, but they're so cute (For the most part), funny and likable that you have to enjoy the innocence, the fun, and the fact that races got together to do something meaningful and treated each other as equals. Little Audrey is really sweet and cute as the leader and for her first cartoon; she really shines in this one. The songs are cute and very Christmassy but they're forgettable. As for the moral, it really shows the meaning of Christmas and the spirit of giving. Only one question, how do the kids get back home?

While not being a very PC cartoon short, it still has a great Christmas feel and moral and if you can tolerate “The Little Rascals", I'm pretty sure you can tolerate this cartoon and take it for what it is and the good message it has.

RATING 3/5
