FROM SAW
This is a villain I recently discovered, I haven't seen the other Saw films yet so I'm going to just talk about him from the first film.
WARNING:THERE WILL BE SPOILERS INCLUDING THE PLOT TWIST ENDING
Jigsaw is a lot different from most serial killers, he
doesn't kill his victims. He instead toys with his victims by setting up death
traps to see how much his victims want to live and if they are willing to
either get hurt or risk something valuable. He even has his victims kill
another person by threatening to kill him or their loved ones. Jigsaw does play
fair with his victims by leaving clues so the victim can figure out what they're
supposed to do to live, but you got to think quick because he times you and if
you don't do what you're supposed to do to survive you'll either be killed or
be trapped in his prison chamber until the day you rot.
Jigsaw is a very mysterious villain throughout the film because we never see him. All we see of him is him wearing his black and red hooded robe, or putting the creepy puppet on camera and even having the puppet travel into a room on his Tricycle. How the puppet does that is beyond my knowledge, after all I've only seen the first film maybe the sequels can tell me how. In fact, before I saw this film I thought Jigsaw was going to be an evil living puppet who wants to trap people for no reason.
Jigsaw also has a victim who helps him with the main crime in the movie, an orderly named Zepp. Jigsaw has put a slow poison in him and has the cure for it and will give it to him if he helps him with the "Game" he's playing with the two main characters of the film. Zepp's job is to watch the monitors of the two victims Adam the photographer and Dr. Lawrence, to see if Lawrence will kill Adam before Six o' clock and if he doesn't, he'll kill Lawrence's wife and daughter who by the way has them tied up. Throughout the film we think Zepp is Jigsaw because we never seen the killers face.
Since Zepp is not the Jigsaw killer, the real Jigsaw killer is the last person you would have expected. Jigsaw is really the dead body that's lying in the middle of the bathroom where the two victims are held. Jigsaw was playing dead the whole time, how is it possible, I don't know, but it's still an excellent plot twist. Jigsaw has also been electrically shocking the two victims with a hidden remote control so that they don't break the rules of his "Little Game". Jigsaw doesn't have much of a back story in the film, all we know is his name is John and was a terminal cancer patient who we see in the film for a very, very short time. I heard most of his back-story is in the second film, which I'll look at that film later.
Jigsaw is pretty much an off screen Villain, but that's one of the many reasons why I love him as a Villain. The fact that he sets all these death-traps for his kidnapped victim is extremely creative and can only be thought out by a mastermind psychopath. The Villains from the 60's Batman TV show can learn a lot from him when they set up a death trap for the Dynamic Duo. He also has a hell of a creepy voice, a voice that sounds like something from your nightmares. If there's one lesson that Jigsaw teaches to society is be happy that you're alive and what you got, which is a moral that will defiantly stick with me after watching this film.
