I'm going to do something really really different. Instead of making a list by myself on this one, my brother Jack wanted to take part in this list to share his favorite film series. So Jack and I are going to have two separate lists and in each number we talk about what are favorites are at that number. So here you go, the first written list that I ever did with a person called...
TYLER AND JACK'S TOP TEN FAVORITE FILM SERIES
TYLER'S NUMBER 10
SPIDER-MAN
Well most of you know that my three favorite heroes are going to be on the list, so I'm sure this isn't a surprise except why it's the lowest on the list. Well like I said when I talked about Spider-Man as my Third favorite hero, most people and even the good series take the comic book campyness a little to far which is why I put it low on the list. Aside from that, I think the films for the most part are awesome. The Sam Raimi films are well a bit too campy at times (Mostly the third one) but I still love the trilogy. The animated series from the 90's is awesome to me it's thee best Spider-Man cartoon series. Even Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man series are awesome, the first one was a great start and I'm hyped to see the second one and yes I'm cool with Jamie Fox playing Electro, in fact I'm really excited to see how he pulls it off. My favorite movie in the franchise will be announced on another list. All I can say it's Spider-Man who is in my opinion the coolest and funnest hero that Marvel ever created!
JACK'S NUMBER 10
I put Bond low on the list because I found the character to be a typical secret agent, typical hero and unlike other heroes, he doesn't have a personality outside of being an agent. Bruce Wayne for example has to change his personality to be Batman who plays his other side of him to be mysterious and when you see him as Bruce Wayne, you can hardly guess that he's Batman. Bond on the other hand you can tell he's a secret agent or an agent in general but besides that the movies are great, the gadgets are amazing, the characters are really really cool and the action is good too.
FAVORITE BOND FILM
It has an amazing storyline, it's more creative then a typical bond flick but it still keeps the same qualities as all the other Bond films. It's an awesome movie and it's an awesome video game since I'm more of a gamer then a movie guy like my brother.
TYLER'S NUMBER 9
EVIL DEAD TRILOGY
Aside from the fact that the last films 2 are a series of it's own then sequels since Sam Raimi lost the rights to his first film and had to redo the past events for the 2nd film, it's still awesome. Out of all zombie series, this is my favorite. They're really gory, the atmosphere is great, it's extremely creative, our lead is awesome, the special effects are cheesy but cool and efficient, and it has an amazing mix between horror and comedy. I haven't seen the remake of the film but from what I heard, it's nothing like the films and all they did was slap the title on it. The trilogy has a big cult following and has been spin off a bunch of times, well I dearly love these films so consider me as a fan who joined them.
FAVORITE EVIL DEAD MOVIE
Again, despite it's miss leading title, it's still groovy! After one scene after another there's always something new, creative, scary and funny, yeah it's that awesome. In a crazy film like this, anything can happen when you least expect it.
JACK'S NUMBER 9
HARRY POTTER
A reason why I like the Harry Potter movies is because it mostly follows the book and the actors playing the characters, it's hard to see them as actors when they actually look and act like the character. What I also love is the creative special effects, the great storylines and it actually makes you wonder if it's that hard to be a wizard. Another reason why I love the film is because it's a school full of heroes and villains together, I personally find that really funny since not many people seem to care about the dangers around them in that school.
FAVORITE HARRY POTTER FILM
I love this movie because I feel for Harry the most in this one. I feel bad for all the bad things that are happening to him but I also feel happy for him because he gets to live the life he's destined to become!
TYLER'S NUMBER 8
These three films are like the "Star Wars" of the new millennium. They were creative, the special effects and action was jaw dropping, the cast is spot on, the score is big, the story is epic and just everything about it is amazing and cool. This was the fantasy film that really pushed the envelope on films at the time and even to this day it's still amazing and epic that just gets better and better every time I see it. Oh and the extended editions are ten times better than the theatrical release.
FAVORITE LORD OF THE RINGS FILM
This film was the start of this epic trilogy and every time I saw it as a kid (After when I saw it in theaters, since I was bored to death) I was hooked on this film. It introduces the characters really well, the story had a lot of creativity in it, I loved the action, and I enjoy the pacing. Just throw in Gollum (A real appearance of him) and the film will be complete. The film got me into the trilogy and I owe it all to this film.
JACK'S NUMBER 8
THE TERMINATOR
This action film can make you see what happens if robots took over our lives. If robots did everything, they would probably go mad, crazy and we'd all probably die. Aside from that the film has good dramatic moments and the plot would be the same but there would be harder and harder villains after each film and they're robots and if they were going to terminate you there's no reasoning no with them. The films may not have a different story but I love the changes.
FAVORITE TERMINATOR FILM
TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY
I love Terminator 2 mainly because of the villain. First off, you don't expect him to be a robot, it doesn't look big and muscular, it doesn't talk like a robot and he really does looks like a human. I also like that instead of being a normal robot, it had creative details. It can change it's look, it's made out of liquid metal and I also like that it's going after a kid who is John Connor the leader of the Human Resistance and we get to see what he was like before he became a world leader.
TYLER'S NUMBER 7
As a kid, I didn't think I'd like this movie since they bored me to death, now as an adult I freaking love them. I love the creative take on time traveling, I love the characters, the jokes and the action and every time I see these films, they only get better and better. The films just has something for everyone and that's what I enjoy about these films most of all. The casting is not only spot on but the actors are the characters, they don't feel like actors just playing their part and to me that's important in any good film.
FAVORITE BACK TO THE FUTURE FILM
I love the films to death but this film is the one I get sucked into the most. The future is amazing, the alternate timeline is dark but the best part is when they go back to the events of the first movie. It brings back the fun, enjoyment and the memories of the first film and the best thing about it is, it's really suspenseful. The action is also really great too, in fact I think the action is better than all of the films. I also love seeing the different sides to one of my favorite villains. It's really one of the best sequels that I've ever seen and the trilogy itself is one of the best trilogies that I ever seen as well and on top of it, it's the best time traveling movie series that I ever saw.
JACK'S NUMBER 7
IT'S BATMAN! You're gonna see creative looks on Batman, creative villains, creative storylines, creative fighting and creative atmosphere. There are so many creative things in this franchise that I just can't point them all out, of course you're not always going to get a great Batman film but at least you'll have something different from the others.
FAVORITE BATMAN SERIES
THE ADAM WEST SERIES
Adam West was the first well known Batman, it created most of it's villains, had some great stories, funny jokes and in my opinion this is the best form of Batman.
TYLER'S NUMBER 6
THE TERMINATOR FILMS
Let's take out Salvation and focus on the Arnold films. Yes, I did like the third film but with that said, it's defiantly not as great as the first two. While "Back To The Future" is the superior time traveling film, I was a big fan of this film series growing up and even now as an adult I still love them. The writing and directing from James Cameron is brilliant, the cast and characters are great and the special effects are all very creative. When I saw these films as a kid, I saw them out of order but the best thing about these films is, you can see them out of order and still get the plot fine, they're almost like individually reboots then sequels and that's what so great about them. Yeah they follow the same formula but at least they change it around to make it new and fresh.
FAVORITE TERMINATOR FILM
I just love this movie out of all the others because it's dark, it's atmosphere is unsettling, the Arnold Terminator is my all time favorite Terminator villain, the action's cool and on top of it, it had Kyle who is like the Bobba Fett mixed with Rambo of this series. I won't go into to much detail since I have a review set up this October but personally I think I explained this movie well enough from when I placed the Arnold Terminator as one of my favorite movie villains.
JACK'S NUMBER 6
Rocky is an underdog story where he rises to the top of his fame and tries his hardest to beat his enemies. What I like about Rocky is that there is going to be a new story with creative ideas and Sylvester Stallone as our protagonist makes you actually feel like he's actually boxing because of the shots, the editing, and the sound, it just really looks realistic.
FAVORITE ROCKY FILM
I love the first film because it started the series and it proves that if you lose you'll still win.
TYLER'S NUMBER 5
THE DOLLARS TRILOGY
As a kid and as a young teen, I wasn't a big fan of westerns. They didn't interest me, and they bored me. However, the films that started my love and appreciation for westerns are "The Dollars Trilogy". I loved the atmosphere, the score, the action and violence, the characters, the villains but most of all I loved watching Clint Eastwood in these films! He's tough, badass, smart, has a dark and tough western voice, he's slick, chill and he can take your ass down when you least expect it. He is truly the best Bounty Hunter of all time! I also love that in the first two films the bad guy was played by Gian Maria Volonté and in the 2nd film Eastwood had a partner who was played by Lee Van Cleef. Then when the third film was made Gian wasn't the bad guy and we had instead Lee Van Cleef. That's pretty unique casting.
FAVORITE DOLLARS FILM
THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE UGLY
This film is the most popular and well known film in the Trilogy and why not, it has a great epic story line, memorable characters, a memorable western score, outstanding action and excellent cinematography! On top of it, this is extremely rare for a third film and a prequel to be better then the first 2 films and believe me it's great in so many different reasons as well. I was also introduced to one of my favorite Directors Sergio Leone thanks to this film!
JACK'S NUMBER 5
THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY
I loved these films as a kid and they still are awesome. The action, the atmosphere, the characters (Even though some of them aren't that well developed) but what I really love is that the films take it's time to tell it's story and expressing the characters (Again even if some are not well developed). The reason it's number 5 is because there are some stupid moments, plot holes or scenes that are so bad that it makes me angry. With that said, it's still an awesome trilogy that gets better and better every time I see it and to be just as good as the books makes it even better.
FAVORITE LORD OF THE RINGS FILM
It introduced Gollum, had great action and a non stop action climax! Enough said.
TYLER'S NUMBER 4
THE STAR WARS TRILOGY
Lets ignore the prequel trilogy and talk about the original trilogy because personally, they never happened. As a kid, I wasn't a fan of "Star Wars", they bored me, didn't interest me and when I saw "The Phantom Menace" on the big screen, I literally feel asleep...that bad people! However, after reading the film books of the original trilogy and watching the comedy film "Spaceballs", I feel like it was time to watch the original trilogy and after when I saw it, I'm now a fan OF THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY ONLY! I loved the iconic characters, the action, the epic story, creativity, film influences and references, and the music. The films just get better and better and even now I still think they hold up, without Lucas's enhancements!
FAVORITE STAR WARS FILM
If you had to see one "Star Wars" movie, just one, I'd say it be "A New Hope" aka the first one. I'm not saying you shouldn't see all three, it's just if you're not a "Star Wars" guy like me, it's best to see this film because not only does it start the trilogy (Not counting Prequels!) but it wowed a lot of people including me and if there wasn't a trilogy, it makes a great stand alone film.
JACK'S NUMBER 4
THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN
I just find these films to be the best Pirate film series of all time. They're creative, the protagonist is fun, the action is cool, they're just really great films! What I love most of all about the films is our protagonist Jack Sparrow because he's fun and his story about being a Pirate who lost everything and has to regain being a respected and feared Pirate is awesome. The villains are also cool because I love seeing them come back to take revenge on Jack. I don't have a favorite film because I enjoy watching these films so much.
TYLER'S NUMBER 3
BATMAN
I'm not going to go into too much detail because I think I explained my love for the franchise fine in my count down of "My 3 Favorite Heroes With An On Going Franchise". All I'll say is I love our hero Batman, the villains are cool and creative, the action is great, the stories are epic and each one of them brings something new. My favorite film, I will tell you when the time is right.
JACK'S NUMBER 3
THE BACK TO THE FUTURE TRILOGY
These are the best time travel films that I ever seen. I love the atmosphere, the characters, the story on time traveling and how it could effect your life for the better or for the worst! They're just really all solid films and they get better every time I watch them.
FAVORITE BACK TO THE FUTURE FILM
BACK TO THE FUTURE PART 3
I love that it takes place in the wild west since I love westerns, we get a closer relationship with Marty and Doc, I love learning the history of these characters and on top of it, I love the references to "The Dollars Trilogy".
TYLER'S NUMBER 2
THE 007 FILMS
Again, I talked about this franchise on my recent list with my favorite heroes with an on going franchise, so again this will be short. I love watching all the Bond films, I love our slick, clever and dangerous hero, the cool villains, creative gadgets, the most badass theme song that I ever heard and the action never gets boring. For me no hero is better than "Bond, James Bond". Favorite film will be revealed soon.
JACK'S NUMBER 2
I truly love these movies. I love that it's mostly done in dialogue then having constant violence and the fact that you have to be smart to beat your enemies. What I truly love is the films different stages of power. The first one shows the dangers of a Mob war and trying to protect your family which leads you to become a different and powerful man. The second film shows that when in power you can become a power hungry monster and cold blooded killer. The third which is worth watching...a little bit and shows the regret of your power and horrible things you've done in your past. I love these films and I'll never stop loving them. Favorite film is really hard to choose.
TYLER'S NUMBER 1
THE GODFATHER SAGA
Lets dump the third one and focus on the first two which is called "The Godfather Saga". I just truly love these films and picking one as a favorite is not going to happen since I see them all as one film but lets talk about the Saga. These films truly amaze me, stun me, and get epic every single time I watch these two films. The acting is powerful, the characters are identifiable and likable, the action and violence is cool, the dialogue is well written, the shots are outstanding, the score is amazing and the atmosphere is perfect. These two films and the years they were made are like a different act movie. 1972 was act 1, 1973 was the intermission and 1974 was act 2. This film and Saga will never die and will always remain as my favorite film series of all time!
JACK'S NUMBER 1
I freakin love this trilogy. To me, it's the best Western Trilogy of all time. The action, the atmosphere and story really grab me every single time I watch these movies. This is also the first time I was ever introduced to Clint Eastwood and to me his performance is my all time favorite performance by him and his character is one of my all time favorite characters. The reason why I think he has no name is because since he's one of the most deadly Bounty Hunters of all time and he has to keep changing his names so his enemies won't find him.The films just go from good, to better to incredible and these films will only get better the more I watch them.
FAVORITE DOLLARS FILM
To me this is the best film because we learn a little more about the man with no name. We find out that he only does good if he gets paid or if it does good for him, if it's not he'll just pass the job. I also truly love the characters because they're just cool and awesome. Just like Tyler, this is also the first one I saw in the trilogy and it too is the best one.
That's our list of our favorite film series, we hope you enjoyed are choosing and maybe will partner up again in the future.
SPECIAL THANKS TO MY BROTHER JACK AND THE READERS OUT THERE
