JUNIOR

From the same guy who directed "Ghostbusters" and produced "Animal House" which are two comedic classics, has made a film that's so bad that it makes me wonder why he thought this was a good idea. This is...

Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a scientist along with Danny Devito as his partner and the two try to create a drug to instantly get people pregnant. However, since they're not able to test it on a woman, Devito decides to test it on Arnold and Arnold agrees. Arnold takes the drug and he becomes pregnant. You read it right, the film is about Arnold Schwarzenegger being pregnant. It doesn't sound like a real film, it actually sounds like one of those fake movies that are shown in cartoons such as "The Simpsons" or "The Critic" that are so stupid that you would never want it to exist but no this is sadly a real film.

Arnold Schwarzenegger as our main character who's pregnant, my god is this a bad concept and performance. It's incredible seeing a bodybuilding action star resort to being in such terrible comedies such as this because watching him in films like this completely takes away the respect I had for him in his previous action films. I mean just watching Arnold act feminine, dress in drag, act like a real pregnant woman is just...ill...yuck! Just watching this or thinking of the concept makes me want to barf. He's not even funny either nor is his performance being so bad that it's funny. It's dull, it's boring, it's awkward, it's just sick and disgusting and on top of it all, disturbing. Many consider his performance as Mr.Freeze bad but I think it's second bad when compared to this! This is not only Arnold's worst role but it's the most embarrassing film I ever saw him do. Even the supporting cast stink! Danny Devito is very dull and boring while also sharing little to no chemistry with Arnold, Emma Thompson as the love interest is god awfully annoying as well as her character being a complete idiot, and Frank Langella is just a thrown in conflict with nothing threatening about him. I actually feel like the film should be focused on Pamela Reeds character since she's pregnant too but no, the film doesn't care about her being pregnant and the film cares about Arnold being pregnant.

As for the film itself aside from having a stupid premise and god awful performances, it's a really bland comedy. There's nothing funny, there's no funny lines, the slapstick feels forced and the film itself is trying to take Arnold's pregnancy seriously. No, no, no, no, no, no, trying to make a story of a male pregnancy being taken seriously is not clever, it's not smart, it's not even something that people will take seriously, it just shows how stupid and desperate the writers are to get something across, if you want to make a pregnancy film that's serious and funny then actually HAVE A WOMAN BEING PREGNANT! Look at films like John Hughes "She's Having A Baby" or "Juno"(Ironically directed by the son of the director for this film) they're both done clever because they mix the humor and the emotion very well as well as having their focus being a pregnant woman! Making a serious story of a man pregnant just doesn't work unless if you're intending it to be just a flat out comedy that doesn't treat itself seriously. After seeing this film, three things stand out to me that really disturb me beside the premise. One is Arnold's performance(Especially when in drag), the other is that scary looking Arnold baby and finally the ending, I just wonder how Arnold's kid is going to feel and react after when finding out about sex and being born inside Arnold. The only good thing in the film is the Oscar nominated song "Look What Love has Done" but it only makes the film worse and sounds better when you listen to the song on it's own.

The premise is terrible, it's not funny, the performances suck and did I mention that the premise is terrible? I crown this film to be the worst Schwarzenegger movie of all time and here's my rating to give this film its initiation.

RATING 0/5
